6% Mandelic Acid + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant is a complex of gentle alpha hydroxy acids that resurface & shed built-up layers of dead skin. This unique formula visibly rejuvenates skin’s ability to renew and disrupt discoloration without causing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation on deeper skin tones. This exfoliant has an optimal pH range of 3.0–4.0.

The packaging for the full-sized product is 72.44% recycled plastic (by weight), for the travel-sized product it is 72.66% recycled plastic (by weight).

Exfoliates skin's surface, smooths texture, softens fine lines & brightens. Renewing ingredients like yarrow extract & a fermented antioxidant blend of cherry blossom, chocolate vine & bayberry support the skin’s microbiome & barrier while working beneath skin’s surface for healthier cell turnover and younger-looking skin over time.

Apply once or twice daily after cleansing and toning. Use clean fingers or a cotton pad to apply an even layer over the entire face, avoiding direct contact with eyes and lips. Do not rinse. For daytime, follow with a broad-spectrum sunscreen rated SPF 30 or greater.

Sun Protection Advice When Using Any AHA Exfoliant: This product contains alpha hydroxy acids, ingredients that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and the possibility of sunburn. Always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen rated SPF 30 or greater every day. When outdoors, wear protective clothing whenever possible, seek shade, and avoid prolonged sun exposure.

How is the 6% Mandelic Acid + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant different from other Paula’s Choice AHAs?
While Paula’s Choice AHA exfoliants each deliver uniquely amazing results, this formula is our first ultra-gentle AHA liquid that goes beyond surface exfoliation to deliver an array of benefits, including skin renewal and improved skin barrier. This is due to our unique combination of mandelic and lactic acids plus yarrow extract and a fermented blend of antioxidant plant extracts. This exfoliant features an advanced combination of ingredients that softens rough texture, brightens dullness and nourishes skin's microbiome, for healthier, more fortified skin.
Choosing the right AHA exfoliant depends on various factors including your skin type, concerns and sensitivity.

If I’m already using a Paula’s Choice AHA exfoliant, do I need to use the 6% Mandelic Acid + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant?
Not necessarily but adding it to your routine will depend on your primary skin care goals and concerns. If you’re happy with the results you are getting from your current AHA exfoliant, you don’t need to use the 6% Mandelic + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant; however, if you’re interested in seeing what additional results you might get, give it a try.

Why did Paula’s Choice choose to use two forms of AHA in this formula?
We chose larger-molecule mandelic acid and time-released lactic acid in this formula because of their ability to gently revive skin’s natural shedding process while also supporting the skin’s barrier and microbiome. Each provides a slow and gentle penetration into the skin while strengthening the skin barrier and supporting ceramide production (a key component to strong, healthy skin).

Can I layer the 6% Mandelic Acid + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant with Paula’s Choice BHAs?
Using both the 6% Mandelic Acid + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant and a Paula’s Choice BHA in your routine can target skin concerns like sun damage, deep wrinkles, clogged pores, bumps and dull, flaky skin even faster. Many prefer alternating these exfoliants to address their specific needs, but everyone’s skin is different. For additional information how to use multiple exfoliants in your routine, please contact our Client Services team.

Are there ingredients or products I should avoid using with 6% Mandelic Acid + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant?
No, the 6% Mandelic Acid + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant contains an array of skin-beneficial ingredients that play nicely with all other products and ingredients. In fact, this product (along with all Paula’s Choice exfoliants) can help improve the absorption of other skin care products by helping to remove the built-up outer layer of dry, dead skin to allow serums, moisturizers and other treatments to penetrate deeper and be more effective.

Why did Paula’s Choice develop the 6% Mandelic Acid + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant?
As an industry leader when it comes to exfoliation, we wanted to offer a new innovation that goes beyond AHA’s primary benefits of surface exfoliation to also deliver skin renewal and microbiome benefits. Plus, this is currently the only liquid AHA exfoliant we offer and one of the gentlest exfoliants in our line.

Who should use the 6% Mandelic Acid + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant?
This product is ideal for all skin types and skin tones looking to refine their complexion, decrease dullness and increase barrier strength. It’s especially good for those who have struggled with other AHA exfoliants in the past, including those with sensitive skin or those who have felt a stinging sensation when using AHA.

Is 6% Mandelic Acid + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant suitable for those with rosacea or sensitive skin?
Yes, the 6% Mandelic Acid + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant is considered our most gentle AHA. It’s formulated with antioxidants and soothing ingredients which is even suitable for those with symptoms of rosacea such as redness, sensitivity and skin that feels dry, tight or uncomfortable. We recommend starting slowly, monitoring your skin and adjusting accordingly. During the day, always use a broad-spectrum sunscreen rated SPF 30 or greater.

How does the 6% Mandelic Acid + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant support a healthy skin microbiome and skin barrier?
The 6% Mandelic Acid + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant contains a probiotic-fermented antioxidant blend that helps create healthy postbiotics and nutrients within skin that have an anti-aging effect including visibly reducing redness, improving uneven tone and fortifying skin.

Does the 6% Mandelic Acid + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant have a noticeable scent?
While Paula's Choice products are fragrance-free, each product may have a unique scent due to its ingredients. The scent of the 6% Mandelic Acid + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant that some may notice is from the combination of ingredients it contains. This scent dissipates quickly after application.

I have been waiting for years for this

Finally an acid I can use on my sensitive skin. I found glycolic too strong, so this is perfect. Skin feels smoother after using.
